BIO Flaxseed Oil is made from high-quality flax seeds and is characterized by its typical nutty and slightly bitter taste. It is a cold-pressed virgin oil, which retains a significant amount of bioactive compounds that might otherwise be destroyed by heat. These beneficial substances include unsaturated fatty acids. If unsaturated fatty acids are replaced by saturated ones in the diet, they may contribute to the maintenance of blood cholesterol levels.
Virgin flaxseed oil is ideal for cold recipes and should not be used for high-temperature cooking. This is because it has a low smoke point (also known as the burning point) of around 103℃. This is the temperature when the oil starts to smoke. However, when used cold, it will add flavour to vegetable or pasta salads, for example. It can also be used to prepare delicious dressings, various dips and spreads. It is suitable to add to hot dishes, but only after they have been cooked.
